At Okteto, it is our mission to provide developers with an excellent experience when developing cloud native applications. We launched Okteto’s free tier to enable day-to-day development for individual developers and provide a way for people to try out Okteto. Since then, there have been a growing number of incidents of abuse of the free cloud resources we provide as part of this tier. People have tried to run malicious code, cryptocurrency miners, etc., on the platform. In efforts to curb this, we now require users to have a business email attached to their Okteto account to be able to try out the free tier. We understand that this may restrict access to Okteto for some genuine users who don’t have a business email. If that’s the case, please reach out to us at okteto.com/support, and we’ll be happy to make an exception for you
